Message from the Director

The month of December promises to be a very busy one for all of us, both children and adults alike. We will be bustling about shopping, planning, and decorating. It is a joyous, yet exhausting, season for most. And it can be frustrating as well, especially when trying to find the perfect gift for those on your Christmas list! Let’s try to embrace the spirit of the holiday this season by helping others, giving to charity - if you can, or just being more positive & friendly. :-)

Christmas day is a day of joy and charity. May God make you very rich in both this holiday season and throughout the year. And may you pass that gift on to your children in abundance.

Christmas blessings to you and your family from all of us here at A Child’s Place!

A Child’s Place will be closed on 12/25/17 and 01/01/18

 News from Pre-k

There is magic all around us these days! Our school is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We will be working on a special Christmas present for Mom and Dad. Christmas decorations, both for home and school, will keep us very busy in these fun filled weeks. Wow! How quickly this year has gone by. This school year we have learned how our days will be structured. We have our routine down and the children can predict what will happen next. Our choice board allows the children adequate time in each play area. Topics we’ve covered in the beginning of the school year up to date are as follows:

*Pets
*Physical me
*Thinking and feeling me
*My family
* Fall /autumn
*Pets
*Opposites
*Color, Shape & Size

Each theme provides fun conversations, facial expressions, and body language through songs, finger play, and movement CD’s. During these activities the children have learned about personal space boundaries, turn taking, and waiting. Our classroom cannot operate without classroom rules. Tools we use are picture cards to help us make good choices & provide helpful cue’s on problem solving. As you can see, we have been busy learning we still have lots of ground to cover as we move forward in the months ahead to continue our growth in the school year.

Two Year Olds

In the month of December we are focusing on winter. We will learn about snow, make our own snowmen, and do lots of arts & crafts for our holidays. We will continue to review our colors, and shapes.

News from One Year Olds!

Fall has come and almost gone, winter will soon be here. The one year olds have been practicing self-control as our monthly character development skill. Also, they have been having lots of fun working on opposites- watching leaves go up and down, and enhancing their fine and gross motor skills picking up apples & pumpkins in and out of baskets. Additionally, they have worked on senses: tasting, smelling, and touching. Our winter artwork of snowmen & snowflakes are soon to come!

News from Infant Room

In our Infant room our older infants are in the cruising stage- they are crawling scooting and pulling themselves up and walking. Our younger infants are working on their fine motor skills & they have been getting sometime in the Exer Saucers to grab and reach for their toys, while strengthening their legs. All of our infants enjoy carpet time which includes songs, patty-cake, sharing books, or just allowing them to be captivated by visually stimulating pictures in the books.
